Marketing/Box Office Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:
The Marketing/Box Office Intern must have excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills. All applicants must be able to work independently and on multiple projects simultaneously. Prior work/college experience is desirable. Experience with social media a plus.

FUNCTION:
The Marketing/Box Office Intern works in direct support of the Marketing Director and Director of Promotions & Box Office in implementing the marketing plan for all arts programs and running a small box office for the performance series.

DUTIES INCLUDE

BOX OFFICE
• Execute Season Series and Arts & Music Festival Box Office operations using Theatre Manager program – will be trained;
• Take telephone and walk-in ticket orders for single tickets and group sales;
• Process on-line ticket orders;
• Maintain and post a daily record of ticket sales and work with financial department for reconciliation;
• Mail tickets to patrons in a timely fashion;
• Supervise volunteer Box Office staff at Evening and Family Matinee events;
• Assist Director of Promotions & Box Office in supervising volunteers for Arts & Music Festival Box Office;
• Maintain audience database, updating and deleting addresses as needed.

MARKETING FOR ALL DEPARTMENTS
• Assist in implementing marketing/promotional strategies;
• Assist in executing target marketing including doing internet research & making personal contacts with associations and organizations;
• Assist in mailing and delivering marketing materials to individual patrons, groups and businesses in the local/regional communities;
• Create targeted e-mails, tweets and facebook notices advertising performances and art classes; • Assist in coordinating marketing relationships with community groups;
• Assist with research methods to increase audience attendance through community contact and internet/web site exploration as needed;
• Attendance at selected promotional events where Appel Farm may have a booth.

MEDIA RELATIONS
• Conduct ticket trades with radio stations and newspapers and coordinate PSA campaign with radio stations;
• Attend at least one JAMS (Jersey Arts Marketers South) meeting to gain better awareness of media relations with other arts organizations in New Jersey.

SPECIAL PROJECTS
• In Fall, create Press Book;
• In Spring, solicit advertisements and secure payment of ads for the Arts & Music Festival Program Book and work with designer & printer to create the book.

PROGRAM REPORTS
• Create audience surveys for specific Season Series performances and the Arts & Music Festival • Maintain marketing survey reports from sales orders.

INTERNSHIPS & VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT
• Assist Director of Promotion & Box Office with internship solicitation via web site/publication postings;
• Assist in recruiting volunteers on an as needed basis.

OFFICE DUTIES
• Carry out general administrative duties including mailings, photocopying, answering phones, etc. The Marketing/Box Office Intern will be expected to carry out additional duties from time to time as deemed necessary by the Marketing Director, Director of Promotions & Box Office or Executive Director. Some nights and weekends required, comp time provided.
