Box Office/Marketing Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS: The Box Office/Marketing Associate must have excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills. All applicants must be able to work independently and on multiple projects simultaneously. Prior work/college experience desirable. Data Entry experience a plus.

FUNCTION: The Box Office/Marketing Associate works in direct support of the Marketing Director and Director of Event Promotion and Communicatio in implementing the marketing plan for arts programs at Appel Farm.
 
DUTIES INCLUDE

BOX OFFICE
• Execute Season Series and Festival Box Office operations;
• Take telephone and walk-in ticket orders with assistance from other office staff;
• Process on-line ticket orders;
• Maintain and post a daily record of ticket sales. Issue tickets in a timely fashion;
• Assist with taking group sales orders;
• Supervise volunteer Box Office staff and Evening and Family Matinée events;
• Assist Marketing Director and Director of Communications and Publications in supervising volunteers for Festival phone bank and Box Office;
• Maintain marketing survey reports from sales orders, alerting Marketing Director to trends.

MARKETING FOR EVENING & FAMILY MATINEE SERIES
• Review Marketing budget for a better understanding of overall Marketing campaign;
• Assist in executing target marketing, subscription and group sales campaigns for each performance;
• Assist in mailing/distribution/postering of brochures/flyers/postcards and other marketing materials to individual patrons and groups in the local/regional communities. 

MARKETING FOR FESTIVAL (January - June)
• Assist with the solicitation of advertisements and secure payment of ads for the Festival Program Book;
• Assist in implementing marketing/promotional strategies.

MEDIA RELATIONS
• Conduct ticket trades with radio stations and newspapers as needed;
• Attend at least one JAMS meeting to gain better awareness of media relations with other arts organizations in New Jersey.

AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT
• Assist in coordinating marketing relationships with community groups;
• Assist with research methods to increase audience attendance through community contact and internet/web site exploration as needed;
• Maintain audience database, updating and deleting addresses as needed.

PROGRAM REPORTS
• Tabulate audience surveys for Season Series and the Festival. Create a survey report for each event, making recommendations for future marketing strategies based on audience responses.

INTERNSHIPS & VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT
• Assist Director of Event Promotion and Communication with internship solicitation via web site/publication postings;
• Assist in recruiting volunteers on an as needed basis.  

FUNDRAISING/DEVELOPMENT
• Assist with fundraising projects as required.

OFFICE DUTIES
• Carry out general adminstrative duties including mailings, photocopying, collating, phone answering, etc.

The Box Office/Marketing Associate will be expected to carry out additional duties from time to time as deemed necessary by the Marketing Director, Artistic Director or Executive Director.
