Arts in Schools
At Appel Farm, we believe that Arts in Schools transform teaching and learning and have a life-long, positive impact on students, teachers and communities. To support this belief, we offer a wide range of workshops, residencies, field trips, professional development opportunities, and unique curricular partnerships. The aim of Arts in Schools is to enhance the school curriculum and promote a well-rounded arts education experience for every student. Our Arts in Schools programming includes Creative Connections, Curricular Partnerships, and School Residency Programs. In Creative Connections, students and teachers engage in workshops, field trips, residencies, and professional development opportunities that take place at Appel Farm, or in schools and other centers of learning throughout the year. During a Curricular Partnership, Appel Farm works hand in hand with a school to help design and build a program that the school will then be able to assume full management of after a designated time. Current Curricular Partnerships include partnerships with the Pleasantville School system and Pathways 21st Century Learning Centers. Our School Residency Program places highly qualified, practicing, professional artists in classrooms for twenty visits during the school day with the goal of making the arts an integral part of every school curriculum. We view the arts as basic to education and our Arts in School program is making this vision a reality.
