Appel Activities: Creating Scented Confetti Soap!
This past weekend at Appel Farm, we hosted a Girl Scout Journey Jamboree Retreat. As expected, this Journey Jamboree was jam-packed with activities! We had a great time with the Girl Scouts making Koinobori Wind Socks, recycling through Paper Making, and creating Confetti Soap! The weekend was centered around the girls learning about all aspects of air and how it can affect their breathing.
Through soap making the girls learned about how different scents can make you feel a certain way. For example, lavender can make you feel sleepy and relaxed while citrus can make you feel energized and feel awake. Below are some quick and easy steps to learn how to make soap just like we did!
Here is what you will need…
· Various shaped Silicone Molds
· Various colored felt
· Solid Glycerin Soap Base
· Various Fragrances
Step 1: Cut up your confetti! Cut your felt into small pieces.
Step 2: Put your glycerin soap base into a paper cup and microwave for 30 seconds. (Careful, it’s hot!)
Step 3: Stir in your fragrance. You only need a few drops.
Step 4: Pour half of the glycerin into your mold.
Step 5: Pour the rest of your glycerin until the mold is full.
Step 6: Let rest for 1 – 2 hours.
Step 7: Once your soap has cooled, simply take it out of the mold.
Step 8: Voila, you can now wash your hands with home made soap!
