Pennsylvania Clearances

For Pennsylvania Clearances

The clearances listed below (I, II, III) are required and must be updated on a yearly basis.

I.    Federal Criminal History Record Information (CHRI) – FBI Report

Cost: $35.50

The Process:

1.     Register for fingerprinting and establish a billing account by visiting Cogent Systems Application Background Services at https://www.pa.cogentid.com and click on Register Online, follow the steps to register and pay for your background check.

2.     Fingerprinting locations and hours and required identification documents can be located in the section labeled Print Site Locations.

3.     Proceed to a fingerprinting site of your choice in Pennsylvania. There are over 80 sites across the state.

4.     After you receive your Criminal History Record Information (CHRI) report in the mail, make a copy and provide it to Appel Farm.

 

II. State Police Criminal History Record

Cost: $10.00

The Process – Online (recommended):

1.     The easiest and fastest way to get checked is to do it online. To access a web based computer application, referred to as “Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History (PATCH)”, click on the following link:

https://epatch.state.pa.us/Home.jsp

2.     Start the process by clicking on “Submit a New Record Check”. You will be able to pay the fee with a credit card, and “No Record” certificates are returned immediately through the Internet to the requestor.

3.     Once completed, double click on the control number. Next, double click on the blue hyper link, “Certificate Form”, near the center of the page. A certified no record form will be displayed in PDF format.

4.     Print the form and provide it to Appel Farm.

The Process – By Mail (a response may take 4 weeks or longer)

1.     You can also obtain a Criminal Record Check by submitting a Request Form. Click here to download a Criminal History Request Form.

2.     One copy must be submitted with a money order or certified check for the amount of $10.00, payable to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. After completion mail to:

1.     After you receive your certificate in the mail, make a copy and provide it to Appel Farm.

III. Dept of Public Welfare Child Abuse Report

Cost: $10.00

The Process – Online (recommended):

1.     To obtain a Child Abuse History Clearance, you can complete the process online, but must pay $10 with a credit card. Go here: https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/Public/home.

2.     Create a new account.

3.     Submit a request for a Child Abuse History Clearance.

4.     You will be emailed when results are available, please log-in, print your certificate and provide a copy of it to Appel Farm.

The Process – By Mail:

If you do not have/want to use a credit card to pay online for your Child Abuse History Clearance, you must submit a request form.

1.     Go here: https://www.dhs.state.pa.us/findaform/childabusehistoryclearanceforms/S_001762 to download the Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance form.

2.     Instructions on how to fill out each section of the form can be found at:

3.     One copy must be sent with a $10.00 money order only. Do not send cash or personal checks. After completion mail to:

4.     Results will be mailed to you within 14 days from the date that the clearance is received. After you receive your document in the mail, please provide a copy to Appel Farm.
