HeART and Health
In 2008, thanks to generous funding from the Salem Health & Wellness Foundation, Appel Farm started HeART and Health, a transformative program for people of all ages and abilities that enhances wellness through the arts.
By developing relationships with several partner organizations that provide social services and healthcare to a diverse range of people, Appel Farm is able to connect with a large audience who might not otherwise have access to the arts. Our teaching artists have helped people create meaningful visual and performing art at nursing homes, hospitals, veteran’s homes, daycare facilities for special needs adults, community centers, psychiatric facilities, churches, and transitional housing sites. Arts programs include performances, workshops and residencies and span all aspects of visual and performing arts.
Programs are facilitated by Appel Farm’s professional Teaching Artists and are created in collaboration with the partner organizations. All arts programs, including performances, workshops and residencies, are tailored to the needs and interests of those we serve. Programs create an exciting and important way for people to connect with their past, present and future while finding health and wellness through the arts.
