Celebrating Vintage Atlantic Wines!

The Best of the Vintage Atlantic Wine Region!

Appel Farm Music & Wine Festival June 3 & 4

(Elmer, NJ) Wine and music enthusiasts can now spend an entire weekend enjoying the region’s best wineries at the Appel Farm Music & Wine Festival presented by Bank of America, an XPN Welcomes Event, on Saturday, June 3rd from 3-8 pm and Sunday, June 4th from 12-5 pm featuring ten wineries from the Vintage Atlantic Wine Region and performances by acclaimed musical acts including David Uosikkinen’s In The Pocket (with members of The Hooters, The Soul Survivors, Smash Palace, Richard Bush of the A’s, Ben Arnold, Jeffrey Gaines and more), Hotsy Totsy, Christopher Davis-Shannon, JUTAUN, Swing That Cat, Joe Crookston, Greg Jones Project, and Deirdre Finnegan and Dave Cohen.

It’s tempting to dream about a different life when you are sitting, sipping wine, sun on your skin, at a festival in verdant, rural South Jersey.  “Wouldn’t it be amazing to own a vineyard?” This is surely how the conversation started for many of the owners of the ten vineyards who will be pouring wine at the Appel Farm Music & Wine Festival.

Jules and Scott Donnini were both lawyers before opening Auburn Road Vineyard and Winery; the four principle owners of Paradocx Vineyards are all practicing doctors (Paradocx is a play on words – “pair of docs”), John and Debra Basile, owners of Monroeville Vineyard and Winery, started out in fields of science.  For other vineyard owners, the dream of a different life began in another country.  The story of Villari Vineyards began in 1910 when Sam Villari left Messina, Italy at the age of 16, to start a new life in America.  Plagido Tomasello arrived in the town of Hammonton in the late 1800’s. Ollie Tomasello, owner of Plagidos Winery, is the 4th generation descendant of Plagido to farm the same land.

Executive Director of the Vintage Atlantic Wine Region, Abigail Miller states, “The history of winemaking in our area is filled with wonderful stories. A partnership of six different wines trails in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland bring all the wineries together to share their story at local events. Our partnership with Appel Farm helps us showcase wineries from the Two Bridges, Pinelands Reserve, and the Brandywine Valley Wine Trails. What better way to spend a weekend with family and friends, listening to great music, and sharing great stories?” Other vendors with great stories include the craft artists and culinary vendors. Craft Artists will showcase their unique hand-crafted goods which include jewelry, fiber arts, original art, and wood working. A Culinary Grove highlights regional cuisine including specialty desserts, balsamic vinegars, and smoked meats. Guests are welcome to bring picnic baskets or can choose to indulge at the gourmet food trucks selling delicious cuisine ranging from BBQ to fresh wraps and seafood.

Parents can sample wines child-free by dropping off their children (3-13 years of age) at the Appel Farm Kids Camp, where the kids will enjoy activities such as arts projects, theatre games, and outdoor sports under the direction of our trained summer camp staff. With over 50 years of camp experience, kids will be in a fun, safe and caring environment that will let their creativity shine!

Those who love to cycle can participate in a South Jersey Cycling Tour sponsored by Subaru of America, at 9:00 am on Sunday, June 4th, before Day 2 of the festival.  The tour will travel a 22-mile picturesque route that leads to the Wagon House Winery in Swedesboro, NJ and back. The staff of Action Wheels Bike Shop will be on hand to assist with pumping tires and lubing chains.  Check out the Festival Loop at
